Gustaf Westman Reimagines Disney’s Mickey Mouse With a Playful New Collection

Swedish designer Gustaf Westman is bringing his design language to the world of Disney with a new collection inspired by Mickey Mouse and Friends. Combining Disney’s recognisable characters and Westman’s sculptural forms, exaggerated proportions and dopamine-driven colour palette, the collaboration moves beyond the traditional character merchandise to explore how familiar cultural icons can become contemporary design objects.

Known for his playful approach to furniture and homeware, Westman built a recognisable visual identity around rounded silhouettes, oversized proportions and an unapologetic use of colour. His work often takes everyday objects and gives them an unexpected personality, balancing functionality and a sense of humour.

Mickey Mouse is still one of the world’s most recognisable and iconic characters, with his black ears and signature colour palette communicating his identity almost instantly.

Mickey Mouse Becomes a Design Object

The first reveal focuses on three pieces, leading the lineup is the Mickey Tumbler, for €110, which reimagines Westman’s Chunky Tumbler through Mickey Mouse’s silhouette. The design incorporates two black ears into the form itself, with red, yellow and black elements also referencing Mickey’s palette.

The Mickey Mouse Cup, priced at €68, takes a bit of a different approach in black ceramic. Its restrained colourway gives the piece a different presence from the vibrant tumbler. Furniture also pushes the concept further. The Mickey Mouse Sofa, for a whopping €9.250 in black leather, brings character-inspired design into a much larger form. As part of the made-to-order furniture collection, the sofa demonstrates how Westman translates Disney iconography into a functional piece that can occupy a central position in a living room.

A Collection Full of Special Details

The three initial products offer a first look at a much wider collection. Disney wnd Westman are developing furniture, home decor, gifts, apparel and accessories, with references to Mickey and Friends appearing in different ways throughout the range.

“Collaborating with Disney felt like a very natural creative match from the start – when it came to sketching ideas and exploring how a silhouette or colour of a character could meet my own design language, there was so much overlap between these recognisable silhouettes and my signature work. It felt like two worlds coming together in a way that felt genuine and effortless. There’s so much joy and playfulness associated with these characters, and I wanted to capture some of that feeling in every piece,” says Gustaf Westman.

Sonia Samra, Vice President of Fashion, Home and Beauty, The Walt Disney Company EMEA, says: “Every corner of this collection is brimming with imagination, humour and play. Gustaf has taken the personalities we know so well and given them a playful new life. Because it all comes from his own creative process, the collection feels deeply personal to him while staying true to the characters. Familiar, yet entirely unexpected. That’s where this collaboration really comes to life.”

Paris, Tokyo and New York Get First Access

Before the full online release, the collaboration will be introduced through a series of pop-ups in three major cities. Paris hosts the first activation from 30 October to 1 November, followed by Totko from 6 to 8 November and New York from 13 to 15 November. The free-to-attend events will give visitors the opportunity to experience and purchase selected pieces ahead of the global launch.

A selection will also be available at Disneyland Paris. The campaign itself was photographed at the park, with stylist Harry Lambert working alongside Westman to capture the shared sense of colour, humour and the wonder behind the collaboration.

The full Disney x Gustaf Westman collection launches online on 15 November 2026 through Westman’s official website and BEAMS in Japan.
