Every few years, Hiroshi Fujiwara finds a way to shift the conversation around sneaker heritage without compromising their design. The Fragment Design x Nike Air Jordan 1 High OG “Bred” continues this story, revisiting one of the most iconic colourways in Jordan history.
At the first look it looks like a familiar “Bred” formula, jet-black leather underlays, Varsity Red overlays on the heel, collar, Swoosh and toe box, and a clean white midsole separating the intsensg of the upper from the red outsole.
The Air Jordan Wings logo sits on the red ankle collar, stanped in matte black ink, rather than the usual embossed treatment, giving it a printed feel. Below that, the eye moves to something that makes this pair special, the Fragmenr lightning bolt insignia, pressed into the heel wrap. Small, subtle, but powerful.
The leather quality is something that has been done on previous premium Jordan drops, a mix of smooth-grain panels and supportive overlays. The red seems to be slightly different than normal, hinting at a vintage tone of the 1985 original. The midsole is still white and underfoot the outsole keeps the well-known concentric traction rings in red rubber.
