It is 2025, and while Christmas ads around the UK run along predictable roads, snowy streets, fireplaces, warm teacups and cozy sweaters, Fera decided to follow different path. Their Christmas shirt film, titled The Short Way, goes for the unexpected. The premise? Your Fera parcel is out for delivery today. Not going to be home? Sounds like it is time to channel your inner Len Piddings.
Len Pennings the Shepherd
Fera’s campaign channels around seventy-two (yes, 72!) shepherd Len Pennings out in the open field, surrounded by sheeps, a man comfortable in the terrain, where he knows every ditch and rut on the land, because he’s driven across it a thousand times in worse conditions.
Rushing Home
The commercial has humour, an older gentleman, a pensioner drifting a quad bike to intercept the courier. Instead of showing a man stressed out they made him a hero, Len rushes home at full speed. The campaign feels alive and British. The sound design is natural, sheeps making noise, the sound of a quad bike engine running through the woods.
Dress to Impress
The campaign ends in the same field it all started, but this time Len isn’t wearing his standard outfit. Len acquired his parcel from Fera and decided to show his outfit to the sheeps.
