When Dolce & Gabbana and Ray-Ban come together, it is all about refining what already works. Their latest collaboration focuses on one eyewear’s most enduring silhouettes, the Aviator, approaching its 90th anniversary with a renewed sense of purpose.
Under the creative direction of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the collection doesn’t fload away from the Aviator’s original DNA, but the two sharpen and elevate the silhouette, introducing two reworked expressions, the Shooter and the Outdoorsman II.
The Shooter
The Shooter comes with a stronger sense of character, leaning into archival references while amplifying them through quality materials and details. Its bold frane is anchored by a distinctive mother-of-pearl brow bar, an unexpected touch that shifts the silhouette into more refined territories.
A built-in cigarette holder nods directly to vintage design language, strengthening the model’s roots while giving a slightly subversive edge. The teardrop lenses, available in orange, pink, green, blue and yellow, add a vibrant spectrum with bold transparent and mirrored finishes.
The construction remains true to the Aviator’s legacy. A slim metal frame maintains the classic pilot shape, while the subtle separation between lens and structure creates a near-rimless effect, which is lightweight in feel, but visually deliberate. Co-branded details from both houses are seen on the frame.
Outdoorsman II
Where the Shooter seems more expressive, the Outdoorsman II takes a more controlled approach. Defined by clearer lines and a more lowkey execution, it builds on the Aviator’s structure, but this time it introduces a sharper, more graphic presence.
The lightweight metal construction plays with negative space, giving the frame a sense of openness while keeping the structure the Aviator is known for. Teardrop lenses can be seen here as well, offered in mirrored and transparent finishes across a softer, more understated palette of colours, think blue, powder pink, beige, brown and green.
Designed Beyond the Frame
Each pair is accompanied by a considered accessory, a leather case finished with signature details from Dolce&Gabbana, this case features a leather strap and a gold-tone metal carabiner, allowing it to be worn or attached to bags or belts.
